The Haidenaab rises on the southern edge of the Fichtelgebirge between Kirchenpingarten and the mountain Platte (830 m above sea level), about seven kilometers north of Speichersdorf. Flowing in a south-easterly direction, the Haidenaab reaches the Tirschenreuth district after just a few kilometers at the Schlackenhof Renaissance castle. Passing Kaibitz Castle, it reaches the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district and flows via Pressath and Mantel to Luhe-Wildenau, where it joins the Waldnaab at the Unterwildenau district Naab united, which flows in on to the Danube.

With public transport
- To the starting point by train to Bayreuth main station.
- On the route from Bayreuth to Weidenberg there are the stops in Laineck, Friedrichsthal, Döhlau, Untersteinach, Görschnitz and Weidenberg.
- On the railway line from Bayreuth to Willows in the Upper Palatinate there are relevant stops in Seybothenreut, Kirchenlaibach / Speichersdorf, Pressath and Schwarzenbach bei Pressath.

You can make any number of trips with the participating transport companies on the day of validity until 3:00 a.m. the following day. In addition, you are allowed to take 3 children between 6 and 14 years and any number under 6 years with you. One bike per person is also free. The surnames and first names of all travelers must be entered in block letters on the ticket, identification must be carried.

Corner points of the route
If you have the Bayreuth Leaving the station, take the sidewalk down the hill to the left AnnecySquare with the big intersection. There you turn left and you are on the Haidenaab cycle path. It only leads along the Red Main to the Bayreuth district Laineck. Then it goes along the Warm Steinach Friedrichsthal and Döhlau until after Untereinach. Up to here the cycle path is identical to the Fichtelgebirgs cycle path.
Now it goes flat next to the railroad track Willow Hill. The parish church of St. Michael sits enthroned on a hill, an ensemble of historic town houses can be found in the Obermarkt, there is also the Scherzenmühle open-air museum, the button museum and in the school center the very remarkable folklore collection and the pewter figure cellar.
Via the highest point of this route (540 m above sea level), the European main watershed Rhine / Danube is crossed Seybothenreuth. Of Speicherersdorf until after Wirbenz the path climbs again over a ridge Haidenaab and Göppmannsbühl.
