  • 1 Great market place with market fountain. In the south is the half-timbered town hall, in the northwest the former Liebig pharmacy. The tourist information is located in the east between Schurkengasse and Kirchgasse. Further half-timbered buildings frame the traffic-free square, whose gastronomy invites you to take a break.
    • The town hall was built in 1561. When the city fire of 1693 only the stone ground floor hall remained. In 1705/06 the town hall with its baroque half-timbering was rebuilt. The carillon was installed in the restored tower after another fire in 1958.
    • The well-known chemist Justus von Liebig completed his apprenticeship in the former Liebig pharmacy. As a result of his experiments with chemicals, the roof structure burned down. Liebig was then fired.

  • 2 Starkenburg - The complex was built in 1065 as a protective castle for the Lorsch Abbey. Today the castle is used as a youth hostel. The big tower can be climbed on Sundays on request.
