The Bike route The Bergstrasse leads from Darmstadt above Heppenheim to Heidelberg and leads through the landscape strip Mountain road at the foot of the Odenwalds and eastern edge of the Upper Rhine Plain .

With the Hessian long-distance cycle route R8 and the Rhine Valley Path the mountain road with long-distance cycle paths has already been developed. In 2007 the "Bergstrasse Cycle Route" was created on the same route, but with 2 large loops over it Lorsch and Ladenburg.

Almost all places on the cycle path are accessible with the Frankfurt - Darmstadt - Heidelberg railway line. Bicycles can be taken from the north to Weinheim (RMV tariff) even before 9 a.m. free of charge. From the south to Zwingenberg, taking bicycles with you Mon-Fri until 9 a.m. costs a children's ticket (VRN tariff). After 9 a.m., as well as on weekends and public holidays, you can take your bike with you for free in the entire VRN area. For continuous journeys between Darmstadt and Heidelberg, a day bike ticket of € 4.50 must be purchased with the DB ticket. · InterCitys stop in Darmstadt, Bensheim, Weinheim and Heidelberg (bike reservation).
