Laboe is a seaside resort on the east bank - the "sunny side" - of the Kiel Fjord, in office Probstei, in a circle Plön in Schleswig-Holstein. The Ostseebad Laboe consists of the upper and the lower village. The upper village, which remained largely intact in its basic structure as a circular village, has retained its old village center. There is also a nice information board on Probsteier Platz next to the town hall.

A port association was founded as early as 1850 and the simple dock expanded into a port. Since 1875 Laboe has been labeled "Ostseebad". There has been one in the harbor since 1894 station the DGzRS, on which since 1985 the rescue cruiser Berlin is stationed. This was replaced in 2017 by a new building with the same name. Today both the rescue cruiser and the associated station are symbols of the city. The additional lifeboat Bottsand, which was commissioned in 1994, was decommissioned in 2015. The port on the south pier was expanded for the 1936 Sailing Olympics. Today there is the fishing and commercial port with a museum pier. There are also two marinas with over 700 berths and a boatyard. In 2004 the name of the community was changed to "Ostseebad Laboe" by the local council.
Due to its location in one of the most popular sailing areas, the unrestricted view of the large shipping route, a wonderful sandy beach and long bike paths along the Baltic Sea to the Hohwacht Bay, Laboe enjoys an extremely high recreational value. The proximity to the big city Kiel and the good transport connections both on the road and across the Kiel Fjord not only attract holidaymakers, they also make the place interesting for day tourists.
