The market place Nordhalben with approx. 1,700 inhabitants is located in Franconian Forest, right on the border with Thuringia. The lace making is of particular tourist importance.

getting there

In the street

There are no federal highways over Nordhalben. The driver is driving from the direction of Bamberg on the federal road B173 via Kronach to Remitzhof and there to the left; from the direction of Saxony via the A72 until departure North courtyard, then on the B173 via Naila to Straßdorf and there turn right via Geroldsgrün; from the direction of Nuremberg via the A9 until departure Naila / Selbitz and then via the last-mentioned roads (B 173); from the direction of Berlin via the A9 until departure Bad Lobenstein, then on the B90 to Bad Lobenstein and straight ahead there.

By train

There are bus connections from the train stations in Kronach and Hof. Until 1976, Nordhalben also had a railway connection to Kronach. A remnant piece is still operated as a museum railway today.

It was planned and built for the purpose of supplying drinking water. The solar-powered control boat should be of interest to technology fans. The Ködeltalsperre is a worthwhile destination due to its scenic location. The 12.5 km long paved and almost flat circular path is suitable for inline skaters, cyclists and hikers, a network of hiking trails and a nature trail are connected. However, water sports are prohibited. Information board with emergency telephone; Mobile sanitary facilities are located on the main dam, right next to the bike rental station.
