The market place Mitwitz lies on the western edge of the Franconian Forest Nature Park, West of Kronach and not far from the border with Thuringia and the Coburg country. Mitwitz, with its moated castle, is one of the smaller but all the more important destinations in Franconia.

- The main attraction of the place is that 1 Renaissance moated castle, Lower Castle 1, Lower Castle 2, Lower Castle 3, Lower Castle 4, Lower Castle 5. Tel.: 49 172 7204040, Email: [email protected].
With adjoining castle park, tea house and castle pond. The castle chapel in the west wing. The castle was mentioned along with the place as early as 1266. It is now owned by the community and is used for weddings, seminars and events.Open: Guided tours April up to and including September Sa 2:30 pm, Sundays and public holidays at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, additionally in June to August Tuesday 11:00 am, Thursday 2:00 pm; October to March, Sundays and public holidays 2 p.m., meeting point at the inner courtyard.
