The small town Teuschnitz is lying in western Franconian Forest, around 22 km north of the district town Kronach. The city is called the arnica city with a herb garden, arnica academy and an extensive, natural occurrence of the medicinal plant arnica (Arnica montana).

By train

Teuschnitz is located off the Franconian Forest Railway from Saalfeld to Lichtenfels. A little less than 5 km west of the city, in Förtschendorf, the regional train stops every other hour NaumburgSaalfeldLichtenfels. The RegionalExpress SaalfeldLichtenfelscourt however, drives through. The next ICE stop is in Saalfeld.

In the street

The federal road 85 runs parallel to the railway line on the Saalfeld – Kronach route Kronach is connected to the B 173 from / to Lichtenfels. In Förtschendorf you turn off the B 85 and leave the Haßlachtal uphill. If you arrive via the B 85 from Kronach, you can leave the B 85 at Pressig-Rothenkirchen and drive via Marienroth.

Via the Frankenwald-Hochstraße you can reach the 7 km north of the Rennsteig. The next places worth seeing and visiting in the vicinity are:

  • Steinbach am Wald (9 km to the north-west, via Förtschendorf and there on the B 85 towards Saalfeld or via Reichenbach and Haßlach) - place located directly on the Rennsteig; At 594 m, it is the highest station on the Frankenwaldbahn.
  • Lehesten (12 km northeast) - small town in neighboring Thuringia; Slate quarries.
