Map divided by regions
Chao Phraya Basin - Also known as the "Central Plains" area, this flat region is the heart of Thailand. The Chao Phraya River winds its way north to south along the ancient capital Ayutthaya and the current capital Bangkok.
Northern coast of the Gulf of Thailand - The "costa reale" with bathing establishments that have been frequented by the country's royal family since the early nineteenth century. The beaches here consist of beautiful white sand and are much quieter than those in the south.
Western Bangkok - A sparsely populated region with endless paddy fields and shrimp farms. It gets mountainous as you go east. Travelers come here for the floating markets (floating market), the natural landscape and the infamous Burma Death Railway.
