Traunviertel - Traunviertel

The Traunviertel located in Upper Austria, between Danube, Enns, the low mountain range of the Hausruck and the foothills of the Alps. The region is about 300 to 400 meters high. In the broadest sense, the Upper Austrian part of the Traunviertel also counts Salzkammergut.

Winter, an unusual sight for many German drivers, can also bring snow down to the lowlands.

  • For a day trip on hot summer days, a visit to the reservoir of the hydropower plant is worthwhile Klaus at the Pyhrnbahn. There is a boat rental (both pedal and electric boats) and, as a special feature, a floating alpine hut and floating barbecue areas can be rented. The water of the dammed Steyer is extremely cold even in summer. Loungers and restoration are available. Fishing is also possible. A hike around the lake or to the Klaus Castle above the lake is ideal.
