background

The faithful women of Weinsberg

The place Weinberg arose below the castle Faithful to women and received city rights around 1200. The place was divided into two parts, one half belonged to an imperial estate, the other half to the lord of the castle. This had to lead to disputes, which also happened repeatedly: The place therefore changed hands several times. Weinsberg became part of the Electoral Palatinate in 1440, Württemberg in 1505, Austrian in 1520, and Württemberg again in 1534. After another repeated change of owner, it finally became part of Württemberg in 1742.

Weinsberg was destroyed several times: in the Peasants' War, by city fire and by bombing raids in 1945.

The formerly independent communities of Gellmersbach, Grantschen and Wimmental as well as the residential areas Rappenhof, Stöcklesberg and Weißenhof, to which a state clinic belongs, now belong to Weinsberg.

Neighboring places are Heilbronn, Erlenbach, Eberstadt, Bretzfeld, Obersulm, Ellhofen and Lehrenstein field.
