All countries in Western Europe are members of the with the exception of the United Kingdom European Union. The United Kingdom left the EU on January 31, 2020 ("Brexit"). All countries except the United Kingdom have the euro as their national currency and all but the United Kingdom and Ireland are Schengen members.
