The South Tyrolean Wipptal, also southern Wipptal, is the top part of the Eisack Valley in Italy. The valley section extends from the headwaters of the Eisack am burner over approx. 40 km in length to after Franzensfeste. The Wipptal (North Tyrol) with its side valleys is the part of the Wipptal north of the Brenner Pass in Tyrol

They close on the west side of the valley Stubai Alps on, on the east side the Zillertal Alps.
The valley region of the Eisack to the south is called Eisack Valley designated.
The places in the Wipptal form the District community Wipptal(Italian: Comunità comprensoriale Alta Valle Isarco), with six communities it is the smallest of the South Tyrolean district communities.

Although the Wipptal south of the Brenner Pass belongs to Italy, the local population speaks mostly German.

In the street
- Of north or south: The A 22, the route of the Innsbruck-Brenner-Brixen-Bozen-Trient motorway (in Austria the Brenner motorway) runs in full length through the region.
- The runs parallel to the A 22 SS12, the old Brenner State Road.
By train
The train station in Sterzing is a station for Intercity and Eurocity trains (train timetables under www.trenitalia.com).
By plane
The nearest airport is in Bolzano (www.abd-airport.it) and in innsbruck, each about half an hour by car. Other airports are located in Verona and in Munich (approx. 2 - 2.5 hours by car);
