Wągrowiec (German: Wangrowiec, Wongrowiec, Wongrowitz or Wanggrawitz) is a historic city in the polish Voivodeship Greater Poland at the river bifurcation of the rivers Nielba and Welnathat are in the Warta, a tributary of the Or, flow. The city is on the Colmar Lake District in the historical region Greater Poland in the country Pałuki. The city is idyllically situated between wooded moraine hills and lakes. It is particularly known for its Cistercian monastery. In the city became the Jesuit Jakub Wujek born who created the first Catholic translation of the Bible into Polish in the 16th century.
