Bus routes in Mallorca - Buslinien auf Mallorca

The bus is an important means of travel in Mallorca. The bus connections are mainly based on the needs of the locals, for example to get to and from work. However, routes suitable for tourists can also be put together. The buses are very full at rush hour, and you often only get a standing room. Furthermore, not all buses are air-conditioned. That is why you need a bit of stamina when you go on a bus trip.

For longer distances there are so-called express lines, on which the buses get to the destination with no or very few stops. An additional surcharge is not required for this.

Departure times

The travel times mainly correspond to the needs of the locals. Buses go to the markets early, when some tourists are just having their breakfast. When the markets close at lunchtime, the last bus drives back again. It happens that the buses leave late. But you should also expect a departure 5 minutes before the appointment.

Central Station

The main train station for all local public transport in Mallorca is the Estació Intermodal. It was completely rebuilt until 2007 and is laid out underground. Not only is the railway station underground, the bus station is even below the railway station. It has 29 bus platforms from which all destinations on the island can be reached.

The bus network from Palma was completely reorganized in December 2019.

Classification of the bus routes

The division of the bus routes is not based on the political situation; separate regions have been created. You can tell from the number of the bus in which region the bus is traveling. They all have three-digit numbers, with the first digit indicating the region. Often the lines are also preceded by an L.

The 100 lines

The 100 lines run in the southwest of Mallorca. Most of the lines connect the region with the capital Palma de Mallorca. But there are also regional lines.

The 200 lines

The 200 lines connect the northwest coast of Mallorca with the capital. Of course, there are also regional lines that connect the villages with each other.

The 300 lines

The lines of the 300 numbers connect the north of the island with the south, i.e. with the capital. But there are also a number of bus routes within the sector. That's a lot, it's hard to keep track of things.

The 400 lines

Probably the largest area of the island is covered by the number 400 bus routes. The list of lines is correspondingly long. The entire east of the island is connected to one another on the one hand. You can also use the lines to reach places in the neighboring areas.

The 500 lines

In the south of the island, the bus routes are numbered 500. They connect the localities with each other, but there are also supra-regional lines, for example Palma de Mallorca.
