The Côte d’Azur has been a jet set travel destination since the 19th century, even when it wasn't even called that. Due to the mild winters, it was a preferred winter destination for wealthy travelers who could afford the partly palatial hotels of the Belle Epoque. Even today, the density of heavy limousines and convertibles (the Bentley Corniche is named after this stretch of land) is greater than anywhere else, the harbors full of luxury yachts and a villa with a sea view is just as good. In the second row, however, the normal traveler will also find sufficient and affordable destinations.

The airport is centrally located Toulon-Hyères airport(IATA: TLN). From May 2020, Condor will fly non-stop to Toulon three times a week from Frankfurt.

security
Hikers in particular should not underestimate the dangers posed by snakes (here: vipers). Attention is required in stony / rocky surroundings, but also in the case of masonry or old ruins. To prevent petty crime, the usual caution in public spaces and the renunciation of naivety and recklessness help.
climate
Mediterranean climate: warm in summer at 20 to 30 degrees, in winter mild at 5 to 20 degrees; around 300 days of sunshine a year; often windy.
