Calenberger Bergland - Calenberger Bergland

The Calenberger Bergland is a partial landscape of the Lower Saxon Bergland, at the transition between Weserbergland and Leinebergland. The central landscape is that Deister. The region lies in Lower Saxony and to a small extent in North Rhine-Westphalia.

S-Bahn connections with at least hourly intervals from Hanover to Bad Nenndorf, Barsinghausen, Wennigsen (Deister), Bad Münder, Hamelin, Emmerthal. The Egestorf S-Bahn station is located directly on the Deister, elsewhere it is usually a long walk to hiking trails. There are also train stations with regular rail traffic in Coppenbrügge, Hessisch Oldendorf, Rinteln, Vlotho and Porta Westfalica.

Bus connections on some lines can only be sporadic or canceled entirely at the weekend.

Tourist Attractions

  • Annaturm on the Bröhn - The 28 m high observation tower stands on the 405 m high Bröhm, the highest point of the Deister.   • Wennigser water wheels. A series of miniature water mills that can be visited from the last weekend in April to the last Friday in September. The colorful, creative models are located below the Feldberg spring in the forest.
