Józefów

Józefów is a city in the polish Voivodeship Lublin. The city is located in the historical region Red castles in the Premisseler country in the central Roztocze in the Solsk Heath at the Niepryszka, a tributary of the Szumwho is in the Tanew flows out. The place was destroyed during the Polish campaign of the Wehrmacht in September 1939 and later annexed by the Soviet Union. After the German invasion of the Soviet Union, the place was a center of partisan fighters. In 1942 the Józefów massacre of Reserve Police Battalion 101 the Jewish population murdered or deported to concentration camps.
