The railway cycle path on the former Kleinbahn Grifte – Gudensberg(no official title) is a very attractive landscape, but rather unknown Railway cycle path. It is consistently marked as "Historic Hiking Trail ⊥" and does not have its own signposting. He is part of the Eder cycle path, the Tour de Chattengau and des Chattengauweg.

  • Traffic load: No. Only two streets with a lot more traffic are crossed. There is a traffic island on the very busy federal road 254 in Dissen, so that you can cross the road safely here.
  • Suitable bike: A normal bike with 3 gears is sufficient, but more gears are better, especially if you continue to the Chattengau.
  • Family suitability: The cycle path is suitable for families throughout as it runs largely away from major roads.
  • Inline suitability: Only between Haldorf and Gudensberg. Between Haldorf and Grifte you have to switch to the hiking route Ederhöhenweg (E), which runs parallel to the railway cycle path.

The Grifte – Gudensberg railway line was a 7.72 km long branch line from Edermünde- Reached out Gudensberg. It was in operation from 1899 to 1979 and was operated by the Grifte-Gudensberger Kleinbahn- und Kraftwagen-AG, and from 1965 by the Deutsche Bundesbahn. In Edermünde-Grifte is a train station on the railway line kassel-Frankfurt am Main (KBS 620). The train station in Grifte is only three kilometers away from the starting point in Grifte Guxhagen (KBS 610). Gudensberg is served by several bus routes, including the bus routes 403 (to Niedenstein and Baunatal) and 500 (kassel-Fritzlar-Bad Wildungen). Not far from the former Gudensberg train station is the bus stopbus stoptown hall.

By bicycle

Of kassel coming you drive on the Fulda cycle path until after Baunatal-Guntershausen and further on Eder cycle path until after Edermünde- Handles. You can also continue from Guxhagen out on the old route of the Eder cycle path (R10) to Grifte. Chattengau
