Lusatian Lakeland - Lausitzer Seenland

Changing landscapes - the Boxberg power plant and the Nochten boulder park

The Lusatian Lakeland is a post-mining landscape in southern Brandenburg and northeast Saxony. The region was created through intensive open-cast lignite mining activity and is still changing. At the end of its metamorphosis, the Lusatian Lakeland will become one of the most popular recreational areas in Germany. The Central German lake district has a similar story.
