Lublin is a big city in Poland in the eponymous Voivodeshipwhose capital it is. The city is on the Bystrzyca as well as on Way of St. James Lesser Poland and at the Via Jagiellonica.
Lublin borders clockwise Kozłówka, Lubartów, Ostrów Lubelski, Łęczna, Świdnik, Piaski, Bychawa, Bełżyce and Nałęczów.

Lublin was settled in the early Middle Ages. Lublin was first mentioned in a document in 1198. In the High Middle Ages, the Lublin Castle besieged several times and captured several times, among others by the Tatars in 1241 or the Lithuanians in 1244. In the second half of the 17th century, the city was sacked several times by Swedes and Kossaks. In 1795 Lublin came to the Habsburgs as part of the Third Partition of Poland. In 1809 it briefly became part of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw before it fell to Russia (Congress Poland) after the Congress of Vienna. Singer wrote about the Jewish life of Lublin in the 19th century in the Nobel Prize-winning novel The Wizard of Lublin set a monument. Industrialization began around 1880 after the city had a railway connection Warsaw had received. After the First World War, the city came to the Second Polish Republic. During the Second World War, the German occupiers built it Lublin ghetto and in Majdanek the same name concentration camp. 1944 was a provisional in Lublin Communist government used for Poland by Stalin. Direct arrival by train is possible from Germany (via Berlin and Warsaw). The central train station is Lublin Central Station with the listed station building from 1877. By bus
The city is served by long-distance buses from German-speaking countries as well as regional buses within Poland. The central bus station is located close to the center.
