Santa Cruz is a city on Madeira, Administrative seat of the district of the same name.
background
Santa Cruz is one of the oldest cities in Madeira. After the settlement of the island from the neighboring city Machico started, it was founded in 1515. The population lives mainly from agriculture, fishing and the small businesses of an administrative community, but increasingly also from tourist services that are offered in the company of the nearby airport.
Most tourists will only name the place by name Airport connect on the island. Otherwise, other places on the island clearly have more to offer in terms of sights or nature experiences.

Ultimately, all destinations on the island can be reached from Santa Cruz. However, the place is located in the eastern part of Madeira, so that you often have to take long distances to explore the island from here.

- over Porto da Cruz to Santana and possibly a further exploration of the north coast via the old, adventurous coastal road
