Szamotuły (German: Velvet) is a historic city in the polish Voivodeship Greater Poland at the Sama, a tributary of the Wartathat are in the Or flows out. The city on the northern edge of the Poznan Lake District in the historical region Greater Poland in the Poznan country. The city is idyllically situated between wooded moraine hills and lakes south of the Netzer Heide. The city is particularly known for its monastery basilica and its brick Gothic fortified castle.

From Berlin the A12 leads to the border Slubice and further than Autostrada A2 to Poses. It's not far from there.
Alternatively, from southern Germany and Switzerland you can use Prague and from Austria over Brno drive and then from the Polish-Czech border the Autostrada A1 take to A2.
