The Tokyo prefecture(Japanese: 東京 都, Tōkyō-to) lies in the region Kantō on the main Japanese island Honshu.

Regions

In the eastern third, the prefecture includes the 23 districts that are known as the Tokyo metropolitan area be considered. The area around the places Mizuho (35,000), Hinode (16,000), Okutama (6700) and Hinohara (3000 inhabitants) is much less populated, the landscape is more mountainous, the mountains higher: the mountain Mitō is 1528 m high, the Kumotori even 2017 m high, it is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan.

Izu Islands

The Izu Islands lie in front of the peninsula Izu, however, to the Shizuoka Prefecture belongs.
