Toyama(Japanese: 富山 県, Toyama-ken) is a prefecture in the region Chūbu, Japan.

Toyama Prefecture is on the north side of the island Honshu and borders with the Toyama Bay to the Japanese sea. Neighboring prefectures are Niigata, Nagano, Gifu and Ishikawa.

  • The historical villages of Shirakawa-gō and Gokayama 1 on the border of the prefectures Gifu and Toyama are known for their farmhouses, whose architectural style as Gasshō-zukuri (Style of hands folded in prayer). Some of the houses belong to the UNESCO world cultural heritage.
