Aomori(Japanese: 青森 県, Aomori-ken) is a prefecture in the region Tōhoku, Japan.

Aomori prefecture is located in the north of the island Honshu. Southern neighbors are the prefectures Akita and Iwate.

Aomori prefecture is structured in a rural way. To the east is the Shimokita Peninsula. There are around the mountain Osore-zan hot springs, this 879 m high mountain massif is considered the entrance to hell in Japanese mythology. Rice is grown on the Tsugaru Peninsula in the west and there are also extensive apple orchards.
