Rhône Valley wine routes
For amateurs, tourists or gourmets, the Côtes du Rhône producers union offers 14 Rhône Valley wine routes – each route offered, in addition to the contact details of local producers, also offers tourist attractions, gastronomy, festivities, and activities accessible along the route :
- 1 - Northern vineyards – This route offers the discovery of the northern vineyards of the Rhône Valley, between Vienna and Valence, whose wine production methods are different from those further south, due to the more hilly geography, and the slightly different climate. Indeed, the plots of vines are located on land with particularly steep slopes, in particular at Condrieux Where Tains l'Herminage. Another particularity of the AOCs crossed by this route: their specifications impose the use of single grape variety in the production of wine, unlike the southern Côtes du Rhône cuvée, in a blend of several grape varieties.
- 2 - In Drôme Provençale – This road is one of the two roads in the south of the Drôme department, the other being the "10 - Grignan-les Adhémar". Starting from Taulignan, to the north, it runs along the Montagne de la Lance, until Nyons, also known for its olive oil production. From there the road splits in two, heading north Mont Ventoux, on one side, and along the Aigues, towards the plains of the Rhône, on the other. This region is rich in agricultural and cultural diversity.
- 3 - The Enclave – From the name of theEnclave of the Popes, Vaucluse lands of the Avignon popes, in Drôme Provençale. Each of the 4 municipalities of the Enclave are visited.
- 4 - Vineyards in Ardèche – The circuit allows you to discover the downstream of the Ardèche river, between Bourg-Saint-Andéol, Pont-Saint-Esprit, and Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche. Among the curiosities of this discovery: the caves of Saint-Marcel-d'Ardèche, offering in addition to a classic cave tour, a tasting tour of wines that have aged in these natural cavities. Little more, they are about twenty kilometers from the site of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.
- 5 - From Orange to Vaison-la-Romaine – The circuit winds between Rhône, Aigues and Ouvèze, through several appellations villages of the Côtes du Rhône. In addition to the wine discovery, this visit allows you to go back in history, to the time of the Roman settlements in Provence, both in Orange, that Vaison-la-Romaine, and also to take advantage of the summer lyric festivals.
- 6 - From Pont-Saint-Esprit to Saint-Victor-la-Coste – The circuit takes you between Ardèche, Cèze and Rhône, to discover the vineyards of the north-east of Gard.
- 7 - Around the Dentelles de Montmirail – Its vineyards on the edges and in the Laces of Montmirail, allow a discovery pose, between two sporting activities of climbing, hiking or paragliding.
- 8 - Around Avignon – Allow you to discover the vineyards closest to the Avignon papacy. In addition to tastings, visits can be interspersed with cultural or historical discoveries.
- 9 - From Roquemaure to Remoulins
- 10 - Grignan-les Adhémar – Formerly Côteaux-du-Tricastin, this circuit allows the discovery of both the vine and the truffle, accompanied by literature from the Countess of Sévigné.
- 11 - Ventoux – the Mont Ventoux is known for cycling. It also overlooks a very diverse agricultural region, with a wide variety of fruit production. This circuit allows you to discover the region from the feet of Ventoux to the banks of the Calavon river, up to Apt.
- 12 - Luberon – The most south-eastern of the Côtes du Rhône routes, it surrounds the Luberon Massif and the Luberon Regional Natural Park. This circuit allows you to discover the vineyard and nature, between Calavon and Durance.
- 13 - Costières de Nîmes – The circuit winds along the right bank of the Rhône, between the south of Nimes, and north of the Camargue. This is the southernmost route of the Côtes du Rhône routes in the Gard.
- 14 - Duchy of Uzès – The road allows you to discover the foothills cevennes, around'Uzès, in the north of Nimes.
The Syndicate of Winegrowers of the Clairette de Die also offer several wine tourism tours in the appellation. The Paths of the Clairette – 8 routes are offered, for the discovery of the land, most of them hiking
