Wörth can be reached via the Main federal waterway. A ship's own berth allows even large inland vessels to be moored.
By bicycle
The well-developed one runs along the banks of the Main Main cycle path along, which enables an extensive bike tour from the source of the Main or to the mouth of the Rhine. The total length of the largely flat valley path is around 600 kilometers.
The cycle path in Wörth is also part of the 3-country cycle path, which runs as a 225 km long circuit through the federal states of Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria and also follows the courses of the Mümmling, Neckar and Main rivers.
The German Limes cycle path leads from the former Roman border fortifications on the Middle Rhine, over the Taunus to southern Germany to the Danube. In the Lower Main area, the 818-kilometer cycle path follows the river.
The combined foot and bicycle path on the railway bridge to Erlenbach, which runs parallel to the rail, allows the Main to be easily crossed.

The old town is characterized by the medieval city fortifications and many historical monuments and half-timbered houses. The city wall on the side of the river has now been expanded as a flood protection wall. In the old town there is also the town hall (formerly the town hall) from 1600. The half-timbered building has a renaissance portal. The old conference room is located on the first floor of the building and is now used for various public events in the city and for civil weddings. A collection of Roman finds from the area of the Wörther fort can be seen on the second floor. The fort is a pure ground monument that is not visible from the surface.
Above the Landstrasse is the 'Neu-Wörth' district, which was laid out after the Main was flooded in 1882. The development, which is unique in its size for the Free State of Bavaria, was primarily carried out using detached houses made of red sandstone.
Churches
- 1 St. Nicholas Church, Luxborgstrasse. The St. Nicholas Church was created as part of the city's relocation to a flood-free area in 1898. It was built from red sandstone in the style of a Romanesque basilica. On the north side, a larger than life-size group of Mounts of Olives made of sandstone is attached to the outer wall. The interior is mostly contemporary, but older, valuable art treasures can also be admired. In the transept there is a late Gothic winged altar (Wörther Altar) from around 1470. There is a carved crucifixion group (1528) on the choir arch. The "Kümmernisbild" was made by Jakob Conrad Bechtold in 1730.
museum
- 2 Maritime and Shipbuilding Museum, In the St. Wolfgang church in the old town. Tel.: 49 (0)9372 72970. It documents the historical development of inland shipping and shipbuilding on the Main. Numerous exhibits are closely linked to the Schifferstadt. On three levels, models, devices, documents and pictures are used to explain the technological developments, starting with wooden shipbuilding and the first wooden boats, through the period of industrialization and steamships to modern inland shipping. This development is closely related to the expansion of the Main as a traffic route. Display boards show the technical side of these changes, but also deal with the political and economic framework conditions in the 19th century. On the top level, the museum deals with boat life, everyday life and life on the ship, as well as changes in the workplace due to technology and economic structural change. The museum is housed in the nave of the former St. Wolfgang Church, which was redesigned for this purpose. In addition to the main exhibition with the subject of shipping and shipbuilding, there are further secondary exhibitions on the subjects of Main fishing, nail forge and “The Romans in Wörth”. For more information, see also Shipping and Shipbuilding Museum Wörth am Main on Wikipedia.Open: Opening times: Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment.
