Bad Hindelang is 822 meters above sea level and is a market town in the Oberallgäu, the southernmost region of the Allgäu. With around 1 million overnight stays annually, Bad Hindelang is one of the most successful and well-known places in tourism Bavaria. The Oberjoch district is at an altitude of 1,136 meters and is known as the "highest ski and mountain village in Germany".

Arrival via Immenstadt i. Allgäu to the holiday destination station Sonthofen. The bus continues every half hour to Bad Hindelang (approx. 7 km)

By bus

The 1 Long-distance bus stop is on the Alpenstrasse (B 308).

The bus company "Komm mit" -Busreisen offers a convenient pick-up service from your own front door to the host's front door and back again. The offer can be booked from numerous major German cities.

In the street

Arrival via the A7 to the Allgäu motorway triangle. Then on the A980 towards Sonthofen and Oberstdorf. Exit Waltenhofen on the B19 towards Sonthofen and continue on the B308 to Bad Hindelang. Alternatively, it is also possible to arrive via Unterjoch and Oberjoch. To do this, take the A7 to the Bad Hindelang / Oberjoch exit near Oy-Mittelberg. Then continue on the B309 / B310 to Unterjoch and Oberjoch. On the B308 you can continue to Bad Hindelang over the Jochpass.

On foot

The European long-distance hiking trail E4 and the 240-kilometer Maximiliansweg from Lindau to Berchtesgaden lead to and through Bad Hindelang.

The Kneipp cure garden "Prinze Gumpe" was converted from a swimming pool into a natural swimming pond in 1998 by the residents. The pond system cleans itself and offers a Kneipp pool and a lawn for sunbathing. There is also a small café where you can get light meals, cakes and drinks.Price: free (donations welcome).

  • hike: The Hintersteiner Tal with the Schrecksee is particularly popular (camping strictly prohibited!)
  • Climb: The block field in Hinterstein offers several hundred boulders. The routes are excellent and put together to form different difficult parcous.
