Immenstadt(officially Immenstadt i. Allgäu) is a city in Oberallgäu and lies between the Alpsee (east bank) and the Iller at the foot of the Allgäu Alps, 729 m above sea level NN high.

Since the municipal reform in 1972, the town of Immenstadt has consisted of oldImmenstadt, Bühl am Alpsee and the district on the right of the Iller Rauhenzell. Further districts are Akams, Diepolz, Eckarts and Stein in the Allgäu, they are in the region Mountain site south of the Hauchenberg ridge. A number of hamlets and farms also belong to these districts. South of Immenstadt begins at Immenstadt's local mountain Noon the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park.

Neighboring places are Missen-Wilhams, Weitnau, Waltenhofen, Rettenberg, Castle Hill, Blaichach in the Oberallgäu district, the neighboring town Oberstaufen is already in Westallgäu.

Mountain hiking

  • 1 Mittagberg or short Noon - Directly at Immenstadt is the 1451 m high Mittagberg, on top of which one in 2 sections Chairlift leads. The hike through the is popular Steigbachtobel. In winter you can go skiing and tobogganing here.
  • Grünten (1,738 m) - The promising mountain is about 5 km east of Immenstadt. The Grünten cable car operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk has also carried passengers for a number of years. For legal reasons, this service had to be discontinued in 2014.

Particularities:

  • At the lunch ski center, a 5.2 km long toboggan run leads from the summit into the valley.
  • At the Alpsee Bergwelt ski area, use of the practice lift and the Hasen lift is free. In addition to the Alpsee Coaster, there are two natural toboggan runs.

Cross-country skiing

Up to 35 km of trails are groomed, the majority of which are located at an altitude of around 1000 m in the region Mountain site. There are at Cross-country skiing paradise Knottenried / Diepolz 23 km of cross-country trails connected with each other.
