The Alps are always in view, the 453 km long cycle path leads from Lindau at the Lake Constance to the Koenigssee Behind Berchtesgaden Accurately through one of the most beautiful picture-book landscapes in Germany. On the way, the sights with castles and monasteries line up like a string of pearls, although these are often off the long-distance cycle path. The detours to Oberstdorf, Wieskirche, Oberammergau, Ettal Abbey and Linderhof Palace are always worth it. Route profile

Information sign Koenigssee-Bodensee-Radweg
  • Length: 453 km
  • Signposting: continuous signage in both directions.
  • Direction of travel: All information is described from east to west, but the cycle path can also be used in the opposite direction.
  • Slopes: The route itself has some longer climbs due to the hilly landscape and is therefore only suitable for beginners and families with small children on a few sections. There are 3,892 meters of altitude to be overcome on the entire route.
  • Path condition: The route is mostly well developed (paved farm roads and side roads). In some cases, graveled forest roads are also used. Here, after the snow has melted in spring, you can expect rough-stone paths that have been washed out. Such a section is, for example, the route from Halch to Saulgrub. In the forest area on the northern edge of the Ammergau Alps It can then happen that the forest roads sometimes resemble a mountain bike trail.
  • Traffic load: About 60% of the cycle path runs on mostly low-traffic side streets. Agricultural roads are also used more often.
  • Suitable bike: Touring bike with gearshift suitable for mountains and good tires, not suitable for racing bikes.
  • Family suitability: For families with sporty children from 12 years.
