Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport

The Ministro Pistarini Airport, known as Ezeiza Airport, is the main airport Argentina and the gateway for travelers from all over the world. It is located 35 kilometers west of the state capital Buenos Aires, near the city Ezeiza. From the German-speaking area, it is served daily from Frankfurt am Main with a Boeing 747 operated by Lufthansa LH510.

background

The airport was inaugurated in 1949 and was the largest in the world at the time. It concentrates 85 percent of Argentina's international air traffic and offers hardly any domestic connections. Almost 9 million passengers are handled each year, making it rather small compared to European or US airports. It has been operated by the company since 1998 Aeropuertos Argentina 2000which operates the majority of Argentina’s airports.

There are currently plans to expand the airport significantly to around twice the size and also domestic connections Buenos Aires Aeroparque Airport to outsource here. Work began in 2007, and 2011 was the first stage of the new one Terminal C completed.

getting there

By bus

The company's expensive bus route is for travelers with a lot of luggage Manuel Tienda León the best alternative. The buses go through the train station Retiro (across from Buenos Aires Bus Station and Miter Train Station) to Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport.

Two regular bus routes run from the airport Buenos Aires off on. They are very cheap but only recommended for travelers with little luggage. The SUBE bus card can be bought at a booth in Terminal A at Ezeiza Airport.

  • The line 8 starts in La Boca and drives over the Plaza de Mayo in the center.
  • The line 51 connects the airport with the Constitución train station.

By train

The airport does not have a rail connection, although there are tracks in the immediate vicinity. However, it is possible to travel from nearby train stations from Buenos Aires (via the Constitución train station in the southeast of the city, which is connected to the subway network) and other places in the region such as La Plata to be reached relatively quickly and cheaply.

Two bus lines run from the airport to train stations in the area:

  • The line 394 drives to the train station of the city Monte Grande.
  • The line 518 drives to the train station of the city Ezeiza.

Another option is to take a taxi to one of the train stations El Jaguel (the next), Ezeiza or Monte Grande and continue to Constitución by train.

In the street

The four-lane expressway Avenida Richieri connects Buenos Aires with the airport. It is from the center across the Avenida 9 de Julio as well as the city motorway Autopista 25 de Mayothat starts in San Telmo. It is also easy via the bypass, which is also four-lane Ruta Provincial 4 (with traffic lights) from different places in the metropolitan area Gran Buenos Aires to reach.

Terminals

  • The Terminal A serves flights from all airlines except Aerolíneas Argentinas / Austral.
  • The Terminal B serves international flights operated by Aerolíneas Argentinas.
  • The Terminal C (Opened in 2011) serves domestic flights from Aerolíneas Argentinas and Austral.

Change

Those who change trains within the airport have short distances and do not have to worry about their luggage.

Who, however, to the airport Aeroparque must, things look different for him. There is currently only the company's bus as a direct connection Manuel Tienda León (approx. every 30 minutes, departure in front of Terminal B) or taxis. The luggage must of course then be checked out and taken on the bus. Large pieces of luggage cost a surcharge at the already steeped price. You should plan at least two and a half, or even better, three or even four hours of transition time for the change. During rush hour, the bus can get stuck in traffic as it travels a little through the city center.

mobility

The two terminals are only 100 meters apart and connected by a footpath.

activities

There is little to nothing to see.

shop

There are souvenir shops and magazines / bookshops in all terminals. Of course there are duty-free shops in the departure zone.

kitchen

After the last renovations, Ezeiza still has a rather poor, but now sufficient, gastronomic offer, with most of the restaurants being located in the international Terminal A. The prices are steep even when calculated by international standards, even if a fast food restaurant of an internationally known chain offers a relatively cheap alternative to the very expensive cafés and restaurants.

accommodation

So far there is no hotel directly at the airport. However, one is under construction and is expected to be completed in late 2012 / early 2013.

There are two hotels about 4 km from the airport in the district Barrio Uno the city of Ezeiza in the immediate vicinity of the motorway junction of AU Richieri and the Ruta 205:
