Tourist Attractions
Zollburg Pfalzgrafenstein
Construction of the facility began as early as 1327. In 1866 customs operations were finally stopped when the Duchy of Nassau became Prussian. Incidentally, the castle was never destroyed. The building can be visited today for an admission fee. The Pfalzgrafenstein is still a bit medieval today, because there is neither a power connection nor a toilet on the island.
- Access - The castle is romantically situated on a Rhine island and can only be reached by the small passenger ferry from Kaub, in winter every hour by car ferry.
- In addition to the entry fee of € 3, the crossing of € 2.50 is added. Entry and opening times
miscellaneous
- Walkable city wall (Flood path) - remains of the city fortifications with five main towers preserved.
- 1 Blücher monument and ferry terminal - Reminds of General Blücher, who crossed the Rhine here with his troops in 1813-14.
- Bluchermuseum - Shows the history of the successful crossing of the Rhine by Blücher and his troops in 1813-14. With this campaign, Napoleon's supremacy in Europe was ended. The museum villa is furnished in the style of the early 19th century.
- 2 Gutenfels Castle. The castle, 95 m above the Rhine, was used as a hotel until 2006. Since then it has been privately owned and is therefore inaccessible.
