St. Goarshausen is an elongated small town on the right bank of the Rhine in the upper Middle Rhine Valley across from St. Goar. The town is close to the famous Loreley.

By train
The railway line on the right bank of the Rhine RB 10 (Neuwied - Koblenz - St. Goarshausen - Wiesbaden Hbf - Frankfurt-Höchst - Frankfurt Hbf) runs daily every hour according to the Rhineland-Palatinate cycle. The 1 St. Goarshausen train station is in the center of the village.
Of St. Goar (to be reached with the Rhine ferry) also runs every hour RB 26 (Mainz Hbf - Bingen Hbf - Oberwesel - Boppard Hbf - Koblenz Hbf - Koblenz-Stadtmitte - Andernach - Remagen - Bonn Hbf - Köln Hbf - Köln Messe / Deutz) as well as the RE 2 (Frankfurt (M) Hbf - Frankfurt (M) Airport - Mainz Hbf - Oberwesel - Bingen Hbf - Boppard Hbf - Koblenz Hbf. The closest connections to long-distance rail transport are at Koblenz main station (ICE, IC / EC, Euronight / ÖBB-Nightjet) and at Wiesbaden main station (ICE and IC / EC).

In the street
St. Goarshausen is on federal highway 42 from Rudesheim am Rhein to Lahnstein and on the B 274.
The next motorway connection is the Hunsrück motorway A 61 (exits 42 / Emmelshausen and 43 / Pfalzfeld). Of St. Goar then you have to go with the Loreley ferry translate.
Free parking for Loreley is available in the higher district of Heide. At the junction to the Loreley, turn sharply right into the Loreleyring and turn left twice in the village. At the end of the cul-de-sac there is a short path along the Rheinsteig, which in 15 minutes leads comfortably on the plateau without traffic to the visitor center.

- Rhine cycle route: The route on the left bank of the Rhine to St. Goar is more attractive, the car ferry goes to there.
- Loreley-Aar Cycle Path - from St. Goarshausen to Hahnstätten im Aartal. In 13 km you can reach the valley of the Mühlbach, a tributary of the Lahn, via the former small railway line in Nastatten.

- Loreley - The famous, legendary rock is located south of the village above the Rheinenge.
- 1 Katz Castle. Located on a protruding rock, built around 1371, blown up in 1806 and rebuilt in 1896-98. The facility is privately owned by Japan. Viewing is not possible..
- 2 Mouse Castle, St. Goarshausen-Wellmich. Tel.: (0)6771-7669. Erected in 1356 by the Archbishop of Trier and temporarily used as the residence of the electors. An eagle and falcon court is located on the site. The flight demonstrations can be attended.
- Individual castle tours take place on some weekends in summer. The knight's hall can be rented, Tel .: 06771/91011.
- 1 Three castles view - Above St. Goarshausen in the district of Patersberg is the Drei-Burgen-Blick - one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the Middle Rhine. From up here you can see Katz Castle, Maus Castle and Rheinfels Castle. Of course, the Loreley can also be seen. The view at the "Rhine in Flames" event is particularly worth seeing.
