Kemnath is a city in Stone forest in the Upper Palatinate in the district Tirschenreuth.

The nearest train station is 1 Kemnath-Neustadt on the Bayreuth railway line - Pastures between Kemnath and Neustadt am Kulm, about four kilometers southwest of the city. Other nearby train stations are in Kirchenlaibach and Immenreuth.

Kemnath is on federal road 22, the nearest motorways are the Autobahn 9Berlin - Nuremberg (Exit Bayreuth/ South) and the Highway 93regensburg - court (Exit Windischeschenbach).

- 1 Parish Church of the Assumption - Late Gothic hall church with baroque interior. In the high altar is the skeleton of the catacomb saint Primianus. The church tower with its gate-like passage forms the end of the town square.
- 2 Parish Church of St. Johannes Nepomuk - Baroque church in the Waldeck district.
- 3 Former town hall on the town square - Built in 1858. It was the town hall until 1898 and also a regional court from 1862 to 1879, since then it has been used as a district court.

- The Fantastic carp trail is about 3 km long, and leads around the historic Kemnath. The carp distributed along the way were designed by local artists. Free flyers are available at the tourist information.

There are a large number of ponds around Kemnath. The tradition of carp breeding was founded by the monks in the Middle Ages, who valued fish as a fasting food. Today carp is available in months with an R in the name, from September to April.

There is one in the immediate vicinity of the old town, at the Eisweiher 3 Parking space for 5 mobile homes with central plumbing, fresh water and electrical column. - Kemnath is in the middle of excursion areas, in the north they are Fichtel Mountains and the Stone forest, in the West Upper Franconia in the south that Upper Palatinate hill country and in the east of the Upper Palatinate Forest.
- South of Kemnath is the Rough Kulm. It is a volcano that never erupted because the magma froze before it reached the surface of the earth. The mountain is 682 m high and offers an impressive panoramic view from its 25 m high observation tower. At the western foot of the Rauhen Kulm lies Neustadt am Kulm.
