Map of Schramberg

background

Schramberg is a major district town and the second largest city in the Rottweil district. The city center is located on the Schiltach in a basin where five valleys meet and is therefore commonly referred to as the “valley town”. The city consists of 6 districts

  • Valley town
  • Waldmössingen
  • Sulgen
  • Heiligenbronn
  • Tennenbronn
  • Schönbronn

In the 19th century, the majolica manufacture was initially the most important economic factor in Schramberg, then it became the Watch industry of the company Junghans, therefore the city is also due to the German clock route. With the triumph of digital watches, the focus has shifted to precision mechanics.

By plane

By train

Schramberg is not on a railway line, the next train stations are in Hornberg, Rottweil, Schiltach and St. Georgen

By bus

There are bus routes (clockwise) from Schiltach, Alpirsbach, Oberndorf, Rottweil, Villingen (with bus change in Koenigsfeld), St. Georgen and Hornberg to Schramberg. It should be noted that most bus routes are rarely operated or mostly not operated at all, especially in the evenings and on weekends. In the evening hours there is a call bus that can be registered by telephone and runs until midnight, which is provided with a small surcharge compared to the normal price.

The bus routes to Rottweil, Oberndorf, Schiltach, St. Georgen and Hornberg are mostly coordinated with the trains running there.

The line to Rottweil (or Schiltach) and the line to Oberndorf have the highest frequency, especially on weekends.

In the street

  • The next motorway exit is the A81 exit Symbol: AS 34 Rottweil, continue on the B462 to Schramberg, this road continues to Schiltach in the Kinzig valley.
  • The L108 connects Schramberg with the Gutachtal near Hornberg,
  • the L175 goes to St. Georgen

The valley town of Schramberg has been an environmental zone since summer 2013 and can only be entered by vehicles with a green or yellow sticker. Unfortunately, there are hardly any useful detours from the Kinzig valley to the other parts of the city, most likely the L 422 from Rötenbach to Rötenberg.

mobility

Due to the deep geographic location, there is often a lack of parking in the area of the shops in the pedestrian zone in the valley town during the day. Unfortunately, the poorly developed local transport offers little remedy, even if there is regular city traffic during the day. At least in the valley town, bicycles are probably only an alternative for experienced riders, as there are usually large differences in altitude to deal with.

Grocery stores, above all the discounters, can be found in large numbers in the industrial areas of the valley town, as well as on the Sulgen. Most visited are probably the "Steige 9" in the oldest area of Schramberg on the Alte Steige, the "Bruckbeck" at the upper end of the pedestrian zone, right next to 2 high-rise buildings (Volksbank and City Center) and the Café Bar Majolika in the former factory building of the company of the same name in the immediate vicinity of the "Schlössle" in Schramberg.

In the other parts of the city there are mostly only smaller village pubs (or inns), which close much earlier.
