The state São Paulo lies in the southeast Brazil. It is the most populous and economically important in the country. In addition to the capital, the beaches on the Atlantic coast, which are picturesquely framed by coastal mountains, are particularly interesting for travelers.

The state borders in the north Minas Gerais, in the east Rio de Janeiro, in the south Paraná and in the west Mato Grosso do Sul.
