  • At the Georgiritt in Tittmoning Up to 300 horses with riders, decorated carriages and music bands pull from the historic town square in Tittmoning to Kirchheim, just under three kilometers south, where the blessing of the riders and horses takes place. The tradition of the event was revived in 1921 after a break of almost 300 years. The appointment is around the patron saint's day of St. George on April 23rd.
Good Friday procession
  • The Good Friday procession in Lohr am Main is the last completely preserved figural procession in Germany. Life-size figures are carried through the city and show the Passion of Christ. It is held by the craft guilds and begins at 10.30 a.m. at the parish church of St. Michael, and after a circular walk through the old town, the procession ends there too.
  • Walpurgis Night: In the night from April 30th to May 1st, the Walpurgis celebrations with many parades are held in many places, especially in the Harz region. The biggest events are in Thale and Braunlage. Several thousand visitors disguised as witches and devils meet here every year. Both places are famous for their Walpurgis games and a cultural and traditional festival that is well worth seeing. However, you should arrive early and spend the night in one of the many hotels and pensions, as both places are boozy. The Walpurgis mile around the gondola pond in Braunlage is particularly recommended.
  • Museum Night Halle-Leipzig End of April: over 80 museums in the two neighboring cities offer special offers between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m., such as lectures and demonstrations, but also lots of activities to join in. More on this…
  • In Dresden find that Film Festival Dresden instead of. The festival sees itself as a forum for political discourse and intercultural exchange. The focus in the competition is on short fiction films and animated films.
  • In Dresden finds the International dance week instead of. The dance festival presents current developments in the fields of contemporary dance, dance theater and performance (art) and offers artistic exchange in workshops and discussions.
  • In kassel will the "Earth Day" celebrated. The great environmental and cultural festival has a long tradition in Kassel and is the largest and most colorful event in Germany for the international "Earth Day". Organizations, institutions and associations inform visitors to the event on ecological, social, political and cultural topics.
  • At the end of April / beginning of May takes place on the Münsterplatz in Bonn a Craft market with historical handicraft.

  • In Bremen finds the Easter meadow instead of. Every year the big Bremen Spring Festival begins a week before Good Friday. With a colorful selection of attractions and delicacies, the Bremen Spring Market offers fun and entertainment for the whole family.
  • In Dortmund the Easter fair takes place. Traditionally, the fair is presented on the fairground on Fredenbaum north of Dortmund city center.
  • In augsburg thinks Augsburg spring squabbler instead of. The largest folk festival in Bavarian Swabia combines tradition and modernity with high-tech rides, nostalgic fairgrounds and Bavarian cosiness in the festival tents.

  • The second Sunday after Easter takes place in Piazza Perlasca in Teolo in Veneto the Gnoccifest Sagra del Gnocco instead of. Gnocci are made by hand by over 100 helpers and then served with many sauces and grilled meat.

  • The little town Vignola at Modena celebrates the cherry blossom festival Ciliegia di Vignola. The place is considered the capital of cherries in the largest cherry-growing area in Italy. The festival is celebrated with numerous parades with colorfully decorated floats, music and folklore.

Hanami
  • In Japan has been the cherry blossom festival for over 1500 years Hanami celebrated. From late March to early May, thousands upon thousands of trees bathe the land in a magic of white and light pink flowers. The blossoms only last about ten days, during which young and old alike celebrate the beauty of the blossoms in the parks and gardens.
  • In much of Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Xishuangbanna in the south of the Chinese province Yunnan) in mid-April (usually from the 13th to the 15th) the New Year celebrations (Thai Songkran) celebrated. The Buddha statues are traditionally washed and there are parades where people splash each other with water. In Bangkok and the tourist areas of Thailand have developed unrestrained water parties that have little to do with the original tradition.
