In the town, remains have been found in the locality of Buco del Corno which attest to human presence already in the Paleolithic era. It is a human burial accompanied by a pierced tooth and a bronze brooch. In addition, bones of various animals have been found (hyenas, bears, deer and wolves) also dating back to about 8000 years ago.The period that left the most signs in the country is undoubtedly the Middle Ages: in fact, visible traces of a castle (near the current parish church) and several fortifications.
