Background

In its territory traces of Neolithic, Celtic and Roman settlements testify to a continuity of frequentation of the place. There are no major events in the history of this town, which has followed the events of the valley and of Trentino in general. Even for Villa Rendena the chronicles tell of periodic devastating fires, as for the other rendeni centers, followed by as many reconstructions of the houses in stone with wooden upper floors.

Administratively autonomous, Villa Rendena aggregated Verdesina and Javrè in 1928, which are still part of its territory. Its economy, purely forestry and pastoral, also made use of crafts such as the manufacture of wooden clogs and the production of lace, the latter also supported by the establishment of a special professional school at the behest of the Empress Maria Theresa. of Austria.

The tourist development of Val Rendena, especially in the north - Madonna of Campiglio, Pinzolo - has also had positive repercussions for Villa Rendena, which now lives in a quiet economy.
