The geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land is located east of kassel in North Hesse and is made up of the Kaufunger Forest, the Hohen Meissner, the Werra Valley with Hessian Switzerland, the Ringgau and sharing the Söhre together. This makes the 113,000 hectare nature park, which borders the Münden Nature Park in the north and the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park in the east, the third largest of its kind in Hesse, after its expansion in 2017.

Since the turn of the millennium, 24 new premium hiking trails have been created in the Geo-nature park. These are all with the German hiking seal excellent, which stands for a special quality in terms of path format (little asphalt, paths that are as close to nature as possible) and peculiarities of nature and often also culture along the path. It is awarded after the trail has been checked by the German Hiking Institute, which also has the trails checked every three years. The premium hiking trails in the Frau-Holle-Land Geo-Naturpark are already an insider tip among connoisseurs.

All premium hiking trails mostly run on very natural trails. That is why the Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land recommends sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. Mountain bikers should therefore expressly not use the paths, there is a separate network of paths for them, information on this at www.naturparkfrauholle.land.
