The Gotha train station, rarely too Gotha Central Station, is the main train station of the fifth largest city Thuringia, Gotha. With around 4,000 passengers a day, it is in station category 3, and both local and long-distance Deutsche Bahn trains stop at it.

1847, Gotha was at that time the state capital of Saxony-Gotha, the Gothaer Bahnhof was on the railway line Erfurt-Eisenach opened. Already 23 years later the railway line came from Leinefelde added, and Gotha developed into a railway junction when the railway line moved to 1876 Ohrdruf Added to this was. A tram connection took place in 1894 on the station forecourt, and in 1929 the Thuringian Forest Railway was added, an overland tram. During the Second World War, however, the west wing, the central section and the station restaurant were badly damaged, while the east wing and entrance area were preserved and form Gotha station to this day, which has since been sold to an investor who leaves the station building to itself. At the moment, the station hall in particular is in great need of renovation, while the station forecourt was redesigned in 2007.

Gotha station has 6 platforms. The regional express runs from track 1, the only branch track Goettingen, as well as in the opposite direction Glauchau and Zwickau above Jena.
