Kumamoto(Japanese: 熊 本 県, Kumamoto-ken) is a prefecture in the region Kyushu, Japan.
Regions
The prefectures are adjacent to the prefecture of Kumamoto Fukuoka, Ōita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima, in the west the bay of Kagoshima with its island world forms the border.
- Amakusa Islands, the archipelago belongs partly to Kumamoto Prefecture and partly to Kagoshima Prefecture

- 2 Hitoyoshi Hot springs, Aoi Aso Shrine, rides through the rapids of the Kuma River
- 3 Yatsushiro Second largest city in the prefecture, production of tatami mats, hot springs
- 4 Minamata. Around 1950 because of being triggered by mercury contamination Minamata disease feared, the city is now a popular destination because of its hot springs.
Other goals
- Aso Kuju National Park. It includes the caldera of the volcano Aso-san, it measures 25km in north-south direction and 18km in east-west. The Aso-san (Mount Aso) is 1592m high and is considered one of the most active volcanoes.
