Niigata(Japanese: 新潟 県, Niigata-ken) is a prefecture in the region Chubu, Japan.
Regions
Niigata Prefecture is on the north side of the island Honshu and borders on that Japanese sea. The offshore island Sado belongs to the prefecture. Neighboring prefectures are Yamagata, Fukushima, Gunma, Nagano and Toyama.
