Canada
on Russia after the largest country in the world. Canada has a lot of untouched nature, but also very large, modern world cities such as Montreal, Quebec and Toronto.
Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago)
Some beautiful islands in the Atlantic Ocean with pearly white beaches, crystal clear waters and interesting cultures. One of the most popular destinations in the world.
Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama)
Seven small but varied countries on a narrow isthmus. Costa Rica with its rainforests is perhaps the most famous country in Central America, but also El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras with their Mayan culture and Nicaragua with its historic cities and black volcanoes are more than worth a holiday. Finally, at Caye Caulker Island in Belize, there are beautiful corals.
Greenland
Greenland belongs to Denmark and is officially listed as the largest island in the world. Contrary to what the name suggests, the island can certainly not be called green; most of it is covered with eternal snow.
Mexico
Mexico is the smallest of the three eye-catching North American countries, but still about fifty times larger than the Netherlands or Belgium. This country is known for the sombreros, the Mariachis, the tequila and the ancient cultures of the Aztec and the Maya. The capital Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world and the largest in North America in terms of population.
United States
When you talk about America, you usually talk specifically about the United States (USA), the country where everything is big. In the United States you will find major world cities, of which New York with its huge skyscrapers and the Statue of Liberty is definitely the best known. But also Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and the capital Washington DC are not to be missed. Furthermore, the USA has a series of beautiful large untouched nature reserves, including Yosemite National Park with large waterfalls and sequoia trees over 100 meters high. In Yellowstone National Park is the largest geyser in the world. The United States is also the place with the greatest heat; Death Valley is the hottest place on earth.

Info

North America is bordered to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west by the Pacific or Pacific Ocean, and to the north by the Arctic Ocean. In terms of size, this is the third continent, after Asia and Africa. Furthermore, this is one of two continents that lie entirely in the Northern Hemisphere (with Europe). Often North America is associated with only three major countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico. The small countries in the south of the continent also belong geographically to North America, but are usually classified separately as Central America, which is culturally more connected to South America than the North. Also the Caribbean are included in North America. North America has many different landscapes, ranging from deserts in the western United States and Mexico, dense forests in the northern United States and Mexico, and mountains in Canada and Alaska. There are also a number of warm jungle areas in Central America. Greenland is located northeast of the continent. This is the largest island on earth and it has on Antarctica after the largest land ice mass in the world.

Nature and climate

In many places in North America, nature is somewhat similar to that of Europe. In North America, too, it is mainly the wolf and the bear that are at the top of the food chain. But there are also other impressive animals, such as bison, which are mainly found on the prairie and rattlesnakes, which are mainly found in the desert.

Language

In the United States English is the official language. In cities like Miami, Los Angeles and San Diego you will also hear a lot of Spanish. In Canada, English is the official language, with the exception of the province Quebec where French is the official language (but many residents also speak English) and the province New Brunswick which is officially bilingual (English and French). In Mexico and Central America Spanish is the official language. on Greenland they speak Greenlandic and also Danish.
