Map of goods

Goods is due to the Müritz, the largest inland lake located entirely in Germany. In addition, the following lakes are wholly or partially located in the municipality: Kölpinsee, Tiefwarensee, Feisnecksee, Melzer See and Waupacksee. The Herrensee is located in the middle of the city.

In 1260 the place on the trade route from the Land Stargard to Wismar was founded by Westphalian settlers. In 1306 the place got the fishing rights on the Müritz. The city was devastated several times during the Thirty Years' War. The canalization of the Elde and the construction of the Bolter Canal resulted in a considerable economic boom in the city. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the historic city center was thoroughly renovated in 1991. Today Waren is the main town on the Müritz and a center of the Mecklenburg Lake District holiday region. The urban area includes the city of Waren (Müritz) and the districts of Warenshof, Alt Falkenhagen, Neu Falkenhagen, Jägerhof, Rügeband, Schwenzin, Eldenholz and Eldenburg.
