Desert saxons is a resort and climatic health resort in the Ulstertal in the Rhön.

Wüstensachsen is located in a basin in the middle of the mountains of the Rhön and north of the Heidelsteins, east of the Wasserkuppe and at the beginning of the Ulster Valley, the Ulster has its source on the Heidelstein at an altitude of around 815 m and four kilometers south of the center of Wüstensachsen.
The place Wüstensachsen consists of the center and some surrounding farms.
From an administrative point of view, Wüstensachsen is part of the large community of Ehrenberg, which was created in 1972 in the southern part of the Ulster Valley.
