How to get around

What see

  • Ancient center. Bocenago is the town that most of all in the Val Rendena it has maintained the characteristic rural architecture of the houses in the old part of the town. The buildings, rectangular in shape, have a massive masonry base which includes the hearth and the stable. The upper floors are made up of wooden structures, a fact that in the past has caused repeated destruction in almost all the villages in the area following raging fires. The houses have granite portals, and feature original balconies. They often present, as is the custom in the Valley, frescoes of a religious nature. In the center of the village a fountain with a large granite boulder symbolizes the Adamello, another in dolomite represents the Brenta Dolomites, the two vast mountain ranges that surround the valley.
  • Parish church of Santa Margherita. The church of Bocenago houses one of the first paintings on canvas from Trentino: the Lamentation over the deposed Christ of the Venetian school, perhaps by Carpaccio. It stands on a panoramic square and is documented since 1427. It has a plan in the shape of a St. Andrew's cross and a facade with red and black marble jambs. It preserves several interesting frescoes. It has undergone many changes, the last of which was in 1922.
