Tramin on the Wine Route(Italian: Termeno sulla Strada del Vino)is a community in South Tyrolean lowlands and has approx. 3,300 inhabitants. It is located on the right side of the Adige Valley at the foot of the Mendel ridge.

The main town of the municipality is the place 1 Tramin(Termeno) (240–360 m), districts are 2 Rungg(Ronchl) (290-320 m) and 3 Söll(Sella). Tramin is primarily known for its grape variety Gewürztraminerwhich has been proven to have been cultivated here as early as the 11th century.

Churches

Fresco in St. Jacob
  • 1  Parish Church of Tramin. The church is dedicated to Saints Quiricus and Julitta. The choir was built at the end of the 14th century and contains frescoes that are well worth seeing. The tower was built between 1466 and 1492, it reaches a height of 93 m. The nave was built in 1909-1911.
  • 2  St. Jacob, Kastelaz. Tel.: 39 0471 860131. The small church, inconspicuous from the outside, contains a series of frescoes from around 1220, some of which show mythical creatures half human - half animal.Open: Easter to early November daily 10 am-6pm.Price: Entry 2 €.
  • 3  St. Maurizius, Söll. Romanesque church, Gothic style frescoes.
