Kurtinig on the Wine Route(Italian: Cortina sulla strada del vino) is a small community with around 650 inhabitants, it is located in South Tyrolean lowlands not far from the Salurner Klause on the right bank of the Adige.

background

In contrast to the other communities on the South Tyrolean Wine Route there are no vineyards in Kurtinig, as the municipality is quite flat. Wine is not only grown in the vineyards on the Adige Valley plain, ancient vines can also be seen on the old farmsteads. The influence of the nearby language and cultural border with Italy is also obvious.
