Branzoll(Italian: Bronzolo) is a community in South Tyrolean lowlands with approx. 2,800 inhabitants. It is located on the left side of the Etsch at the foot of the Regglberg.

background

In the 19th century, Branzoll was the northernmost port on the Adige, from which wood could be transported to northern Italy by water. The rafting is a reminder of this old branch of the economy, which, however, became meaningless due to the Brenner Railway. Due to the railway, however, the mining of porphyry became more important, from Branzoll the paving stones were transported to numerous European cities. Porphyry mining has also lost its importance. As in the other municipalities of the lowlands, viticulture, fruit growing and tourism are now the main sources of income.

Cabernet, Merlot, Lagrein and Vernatsch are grown in the Branzoll vineyards.
